Considering a yoga teacher training? That’s great! Whether you’re looking to deepen your personal practice or you want to become a certified yoga teacher, there are many wonderful programs to choose from. But with so many options, it can be difficult to know where to start. In this blog post, we’ll share how to choose a yoga teacher training that’s right for you. We will also share the importance of finding one accredited with Yoga Alliance.

1. Determine your goals.

Firstly, are you looking to become a certified yoga teacher? Or are you simply wanting to deepen your personal practice? There are many wonderful teacher training programs out there that can help you achieve either (or both!) of these goals. But before you start researching schools, it’s important that you take the time to determine what YOU want out of the experience.

Here is a brief list of considerations:

  1. Location – Do you prefer to do it in your home town, in a retreat destination or online?
  2. Length – Do you have interest in Immersion Format or Weekend Format ?
  3. Time of Year – What time of year is best?
  4. Style of Yoga – What type of yoga do you want to teach? What audience do you wish to teach?
  5. Cost – How much have you saved for your experience and how will you pay?

2. Do your research.

Secondly, once you’ve determined your goals, it’s time to start doing your research! There are so many options out there. It’s important that you read about each school and make sure that their program is a good fit for what you’re looking for.

A great way to get started is to check out each school’s website. Read through their course descriptions and requirements carefully. Once you’ve narrowed down your options, we recommend reaching out to each school and talking with someone on their team. They’ll be able to answer any questions you might have and help you get a better sense of what their program is all about.

3. Make sure the program is accredited with Yoga Alliance.

Thirdly, if you want to become a certified yoga teacher, then it’s important that you make sure the teacher training program you’re considering is accredited with Yoga Alliance. This accreditation means that the school has met (and continues to meet) certain standards set by Yoga Alliance in terms of curriculum, instructor qualifications, etc. To learn more about what it means for a school to be accredited by Yoga Alliance, click here.

Once you’ve considered these three things, we’re confident that you’ll be well on your way to finding the perfect yoga teacher training program for YOU!
