The program is flexible and designed so you can work at your own pace in a way that is harmonious with a yogic lifestyle (rather than rushing to meet deadlines that are not meaningful to you).
Recommended completion guidelines are established so you may complete the program in 8 weeks, 12 weeks, 16 weeks, 6 months, or 8 months.
No more flipping through old textbooks or rushing to take notes. All of your content and your teachers are there for you - just a click away.
I would like to start by just saying, “WOW!”. There is so much content here that I look forward to going back again and again to learn and refresh. The teachers have such wisdom with yoga and anatomy. It was so great to have experienced and well-rounded instructors give instruction in a way that was not over my head nor was it too simple.
In my personal practice, I was able to gain a deeper understanding of how certain things felt in my own body. The verbal and physical cues taught are clear and concise which helped me with my language while teaching and made the anatomy something much easier to comprehend. The live calls were great, and most of all I really enjoyed all the video content.
Learning in person is incredible, but there is something so reassuring and worth while about being able to revisit the nuggets of knowledge over, and over again. I would recommend this program to others in a heartbeat. I have already told a bunch of people what I was doing and they were all really intrigued! Thank you again Soma Yoga Institute! This course has been 1000% worth the time and investment.- Crystal Faron, 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Graduate

Spending so much time daily in meditation and asana really allowed me to move through my emotions in a healthy way and positively impacted my life in ways I cannot fully express in words. My personal yoga practice has deepened and strengthened and will in turn impact the way in which I guide others. Learning more about balancing my chakras has helped me to ground into my body more and out of my head.
When I started this course I was at a challenging time in my life and often easily overwhelmed by emotions as a result. I am now more connected to my intuition, more grounded and able to flow through life with more ease and trust as a result of what I learned through this course.
The last thing I will say is that the 200 hour online YTT course has helped me to show up more authentically. Still a work in progress, but I have more patience and am more loving overall. I've been able to shed and release a lot of energy that no longer served me. -Dominiece Clifton, 200 Hour Online Yoga Teacher Training Graduate

Yes, it is definitely possible to learn and to THRIVE through online yoga training from our qualified and Yoga Alliance registered online yoga school. Skeptical? We were too. However, the Soma Yoga Institute teaching team has been not only teaching yoga but leading yoga teacher trainings for over a decade. Our curriculum is well-developed, time-tested, and established. Our yoga teachers have taken our live program online as the content is of incredible, high value and will bring great benefit to those who wish to deepen their own practice, and/or teach others as well as those yoga teachers who already teach who wish to refine and enhance their offerings to better serve their students. Our anatomy-informed adaptive approach is not easily found in other yoga teacher training programs. Our teaching skill section is designed so that if you practice, and practice, and practice some more we are certain you will be ready, confident, and equally skilled as a new teacher as those who take the in-person yoga teacher trainings.

We do have empowerment reviews (quizzes), written reflections, relevant assignments, and practice teach elements woven into the curriculum throughout the online yoga teacher training. These are established for you to process the information, gain practical skills, and for us to help clarify any material that seems confusing. We understand that everyone has a different learning style and our online yoga teacher training curriculum is offered in a compassionate way.
To receive authorization with Yoga Alliance as RYT-200, quizzes, and exams are a required part of your yoga teacher certification curriculum. You will find quizzes sprinkled throughout the videos to empower your learning. Quiz retakes are allowed if the first time through you do not receive a passing grade. Also, expect a “take home-open book” final exam as well as a final 30-minute teaching practicum via zoom. The written final exam is graded on a pass/re-do basis. There are short answers, an essay or a video substitution for the essay, and a pose study on the final.
Out of the 200 hours of study required by Yoga Alliance to graduate yoga teacher training, approximately 120 hours are video lessons which include lectures as well as yoga practices, meditations, and deep relaxations. Approximately 80 hours is designated as follows: 30 hours of required online training group calls, required reading, practice teach exercises, quizzes, class assignments, practicum preparation and delivery, and the final exam.
Please do not let the Yoga Alliance policy of "grading" stand in your way. We will prep you well (our promise to you), and you will all do just fine (trust in yourself). We are here to support your success in completing your online training and becoming a certified yoga instructor.

There are two primary organizations to become familiar with. Yoga Alliance https://www.yogaalliance.org/ and the International Association of Yoga Therapists https://www.iayt.org/.
Yoga Alliance is a registry that registers Yoga Teachers with the following designations RYT 200, E-RYT 200, RYT 500, and E-RYT 500. The RYT stands for Registered Yoga Teacher. The 200 indicates that you have completed a 200 hour yoga training that meets the Yoga Alliance curriculum requirements. The E indicates that at the 200 hour level the teacher has instructed over 1000 hours of classes. The E-RYT 500 indicates that the registered yoga teacher has completed 200 + 300 hours of study in a program that meets their curriculum requirements and has instructed over 2000 hours. This is the highest designation for yoga teacher certification that Yoga Alliance recognizes. Please note that Yoga Alliance is not a certifying body but just a registration. All of Soma Yoga Institute's yoga teachers are E-RYT 500 registered with Yoga Alliance.
C-IAYT is a designation authorized by the International Association of Yoga Therapists. This organization is a certifying body for those who wish to practice yoga therapy. The path to becoming a Yoga Therapist is much more in-depth than online yoga training or even in-person training and requires 1000 hours of study as well as a mentored practicum. Many of the faculty at Soma Yoga Institute are C-IAYT certified in addition to having Yoga Alliance Yoga Teacher Certification.

In most states and countries, there is no licensure program in place currently that requires you to get a certain certification or license to teach yoga or call yourself a yoga instructor. Some studios may ask for the Yoga Alliance RYT 200 designation and others will not. You can take up to eight months to complete the online yoga teacher training course for certification and if you don’t meet this deadline, you are eligible to request a two month extension free of charge, upon graduation you will be eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as an RYT-200. You are also able to rent space in your community centers and lead your own classes as a private yoga instructor, independent of another organization. Our business yoga teaching section will give you all the tools you need to get started and build a career as a yoga teacher. Please check with your specific state about their regulations for Yoga Teachers as some may require a license to call yourself a yoga instructor.

I loved so many aspects of this Soma Yoga 200 hr Online Yoga Teacher Training. I found it so wonderful to be invited into such a supportive and open community, learning with everyone has been an honor and I look forward to continuing education through Soma Yoga! I have felt so much healing through this program and feel so grateful for the opportunity to continue sharing yoga with loved ones and others as I continue being in the teachers seat. It brings me peace knowing I have the continued guidance from this program so that I can continue to be informed as a yoga practitioner on best practices and feel a sense of community. I really loved and appreciated the flexibility of this program— I felt grateful to be able to bring the online YTT curriculum with me to the beach and the mountains! This has fostered a deeper beautiful relationship with myself as well. From my bottom of my heart, thank you!

This entire training program was a true delight. What I loved most of all is that each lesson was taught with authenticity, honesty, and a whole lot of heart. Throughout the entire delivery of the content, the history of Yoga became a guiding light that revealed deeper layers of meaning and nuance. I always felt that true Yogic tradition was honored in so much of the experience. Practically, I loved that there were 6 live calls as they provided such enriching and informative content. Additionally, I got paired with an amazing practice teach partner who helped me build my motivation and confidence as a new Yoga teacher. Most of all, I am eternally grateful for my mentorship pairing with Sam. Sam is a constant source of wisdom, inspiration, and passion for all things Yoga! To be able to learn from her is a gift and I know that our talks along the way helped me get to the finish line with ease and grace. This entire experience has been truly fulfilling and I am so appreciative of all of the time, effort, and energy put into the makings of this YTT.

If you are searching for a therapeutic teacher training program that is inclusive, well put together and nothing short of life changing... look no further. Soma Yoga Institute is amazing! As a disabled individual it hasn't always been easy finding accessible programs. I was pleasantly surprised to feel so well understood, that every single one of the faculty are proficient in adaptations and that they were patient with my "quirks" like intermittent vocabulary loss and debilitating fatigue. The instructors are passionate, skilled and supportive. The content is thorough, diverse and well thought out. They've also always got great content on social media, offer complimentary info sessions on an ever changing variety of subjects and are quick to respond to inquiries! I can't possibly thank Liz and the instructors at Soma enough. This program has changed me in so many ways and I can't wait to share my new skills with others! Thanks again, Soma!
