Scholarships at Soma Yoga Institute
At Soma Yoga Institute, we believe that yoga is for every body.
We are committed to making yoga teacher training accessible to everyone, regardless of financial circumstances. To support this mission, we offer two scholarship pathways:
Yoga for All Scholarship – Online Programs
Designed for our 200-Hour, 300-Hour, and Continuing Education online courses, this program provides substantial financial assistance for individuals passionate about deepening their yoga practice and teaching skills but who may face financial barriers.
Work-Trade Scholarship – In-Person Programs
For our destination and in-person trainings, students can apply for a work-trade position, exchanging skills such as administrative support, social media, or event logistics for partial tuition support.
Through these two programs, we aim to remove financial barriers and ensure that our offerings remain inclusive and representative of the diverse communities we serve.
When we train one teacher, entire communities are empowered to heal.
At Soma Yoga Institute, we believe that meaningful education happens at the intersection of access, integrity, and care. We offer tuition support to students who feel called to this work but may be navigating financial barriers, life transitions, or limited resources.
Our scholarship program is intentionally tiered to provide meaningful support where it is most needed, while also sustaining the teachers, staff, and systems that hold this training. This approach allows us to continue offering accessible, high-quality education while remaining accountable to the long-term wellbeing of our community.
Since 2020, Soma Yoga Institute has awarded over 250 scholarships to students worldwide across our teacher trainings and continuing education programs—reflecting our ongoing commitment to access, representation, and responsible stewardship.
Soma Yoga Institute has a limited ability to offer partial work-trade scholarships to cover tuition expenses for the residential yoga teacher training programs and for our in person retreats.
Projects can be completed remotely via the internet or in person. Work trade positions will vary based on the interest and skills of the applicant and often include assistance with social media during the program and/or blog writing, although other tasks are sometimes assigned. The amount of scholarship and specific work trade projects will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Typical scholarships range between $500 - $700 off the program tuition price.
