Courtney Parkyn, E-RYT 500

Courtney began her yoga journey in 2000 when her mom brought her to a class at their local gym. It was love at first breath! Her practice started out sporadic, attending classes regularly for a few months, then going periods without unrolling her mat at all.
In 2007, she experienced a great shift in her life, and left the business world that she was pursuing. wondering what her dharma, or life’s purpose, was, a friend, who knew her love for yoga, mentioned teaching, and she intuitively knew that was the direction to go. After six months of one on one training with Alison Brown, Courtney completed her 200 hour training in 2008. This, her first formal yoga training, opened the door to her soul, and woke up an eternal part of her that had been sleeping for years.
Forever a student, Courtney pursued more training and experience, and directly after completion of her 200 hour training, she went on a 10 day silent meditation retreat in the Vipassansa tradition. In July, 2011, she completed the advanced 300 Hour Teacher Training through Cloud Nine Yoga and Erika Faith Calig. Still searching for more, she is currently working toward becoming a Para Yoga master teacher, studying tantra hatha yoga directly with Rod Stryker.
She teaches public group classes, private groups and individuals, therapeutic, kids yoga, and prenatal. Additionally, she trains other teachers to become Registered Yoga Teachers with Cloud Nine Yoga School, Yoga Works and Soma Yoga Institute. She incorporates breathing, physical postures, and meditation to help cultivate a desired energetic state with her students.
Discovering her passion and living her calling has completely changed Courtney’s life. With the places yoga has taken her, she is excited about the future, the community that continues to grow and the unity and love that this practice brings.
